Arizona Public Media (AZPM) has a long history as a key part of the southern Arizona community, beginning in 1959 when KUAT Channel 6 inaugurated service as the first non-commercial education television station in the state. AZPM, which also includes the area’s National Public Radio (NPR) stations, is currently housed in a mid-1960s building on the University of Arizona (UA) campus that was never designed for the growth of the industry, the university or the technology of today.
A capital campaign was launched to fund a new state-of-the-art facility, to provide necessary new HDR and NextGen TV technology and offer expanded gathering, performance and production spaces for the community and students.
When AZPM reached out to NüPOINT, the capital campaign had received pledges or secured more than 83% of its goal and all its naming opportunities. The effort was on the home stretch, looking to raise the final funding from the community.
NüPOINT jumped in and quickly became a key partner in the effort. Our work spanned a variety of areas, including media relations, creating and placing traditional and digital advertising, producing and managing very targeted direct mail, and developing innovative ideas to grab the attention of prospective donors.
Digital tactics included CRM targeting, website retargeting, geofencing and event targeting at the UA homecoming, CTV and OTT to target zip codes, as the YouTube’s TrueView channel and an email campaign aimed at the demographic profile of donors, household income, and career position.
News media coverage included the Arizona Daily Start and BizTucson Magazine, updates and outreach was quickly targeted to CEO groups and professional organizations such as public relations society of America, Tucson Young Professionals and Greater Tucson Leadership.
Three months after NüPOINT joined the effort, groundbreaking took place for AZPM’s new $65 million, three-story home.
